Grant Park

(2-minute drive from Farmers Guest House)

One of our favorite parks in town is Grant Park. Located in the heart of downtown Galena, this splendid 3.5-acre riverside park features lovely paved sidewalks, benches, fountains, a beautiful bridge, and plenty of greenery. The stunning park is a popular wedding site as the vibrant flowers and foliage provide the perfect romantic backdrop. If you’re a history buff, be sure to check out the cannons and monuments. We suggest packing a picnic, grabbing a blanket, and spending a relaxing afternoon at Grant Park!

Gateway Park

(A 3-minute drive from Farmers Guest House)

You’ll find some of Galena’s most scenic views at Gateway Park. This pet-friendly and handicap accessible park offers an ideal spot for leisurely hiking and breathtaking scenery. The park is a wonderful example of natural prairie restoration. It’s maintained cooperatively by the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation and the city of Galena who work together to preserve the park so that it can be enjoyed by the public. Be sure to take your camera because the views are nothing short of incredible.

Recreation Park

(A 4-minute drive from our B&B)

If you’re feeling adventurous, head over to Recreation Park for a range of heart-pumping  outdoor activities. Located northeast of downtown, this 8.5-acre park features a family water park, a skateboard and BMX bike park, softball fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, shuffleboard, and more! It’s a wonderful place to enjoy an afternoon of games, water activities, and family fun. The park is wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly!

Apple River Canyon State Park

(A 27-mile drive from the B&B)

Apple River Canyon State Park is another stunning outdoor space that’s a short drive away. The state park offers 297 acres of natural beauty with over 500 species of herbaceous plants and 165 varieties of flowers. This outdoor oasis is a popular destination for trout fishing and swimming in the lake.

Galena River Trail (Bonus!)

(Access is just a 2-minute drive from Farmers Guest House)
