Built immediately following the American Civil War, our bed and breakfast inn opened to the public in 1867 as the Farmers Home Hotel. This widely recognized icon of Galena hospitality is one of the few buildings in the downtown Galena National Historic District that is still fulfilling its original purpose. Farmers Guest House has been included in many “Best Of” and “Top 10” listings of the leading U.S. Bed and Breakfasts. Innkeepers Elaine, Luke and Mark pay close attention to all the details—big and small—so you may enjoy your stay at this best-in-class Galena bed and breakfast, making it your home here in Galena.
Farmers Guest House Galena bed and breakfast provides you with a complete luxurious breakfast every morning! Each day you awaken at Farmers Guest House, you’ll be awakened by the succulent aromas coming from our kitchen. The delicious breakfast is served each morning in the large country dining room, which offers a variety of tables for private or group dining.
Savor such sumptuous entrees as Caramel Pecan French Toast, Baked Egg Cups, FGH’s Signature Egg Frittata and local-seasonal specialties; accompanied by homemade bakery items, fruit selections, and a variety of fresh juices on the morning Mimosa Bar. Also, take part in our nightly wine and cheese gathering. Enjoy a snack and a glass of wine as well as stories and conversation, offered at WineTime – between 5 and 6 p.m. each evening.
Like many American B&Bs, Farmers Guest House is a family business, but with a difference: FGH is a two-generation family business. As his career in higher education came to a close, Mark decided to answer a call he had heard for several years—to own and operate an inn. He described his plan to his son Luke and Luke’s partner, Elaine, and invited them to join him in this new endeavor. With energy and enthusiasm, they agreed and a nationwide search for the right property in the right location led them to Galena and Farmers Guest House.
Mark, Luke and Elaine look forward to sharing their inn with you.
