Galena Construction Update
Construction on US Route 20 (Spring Street) in Galena, Illinois
In the summer of 2022, the Illinois Department of Transportation began its multi-year highway construction project on the Galena section of Route 20/Spring Street. Farmers Guest House is located on this stretch of Spring Street, and this project may impact our guests and all those traveling on US-20 through Galena for the remainder of the 2023 construction season, anticipated at least through the end of November. As of Spring 2023, the stretch of road directly in front of Farmers Guest House has been completed, as well as the public parking lot across the street. The remaining work will continue moving west of our building and there is still potential for noise, traffic changes, and beyond as the project progresses.
Anyone interested in reserving is encouraged to call or email us directly to discuss how your stay might be impacted. Guests with upcoming reservations at Farmers Guest House will receive updates regarding this project as developments occur, and we receive updates from IDOT and the City of Galena.
As always, we are doing everything we can to ease any burdens and make your stay an enjoyable one.
What you can expect:
Detoured traffic may impact your travel route, as our section of Route 20 is currently one-way traffic only.
Monday through Saturday, there is potential for construction noise outside the building, including but not limited to beeping, hammering, engine noise etc. Work typically begins around 7 am.
Downtown Galena is still walkable from the inn for those who are interested in strolling down to Main St.
Please reach out to Farmers Guest House directly at (815) 777-3456 with any specific questions. We appreciate your flexibility as we navigate the constant changes this project brings, and we are here to assist in any way possible.
