Galena and U.S. Grant Museum

The Galena and U.S. Grant Museum is in a historic 1858 home with over six thousand square feet of exhibit space. Paying special tribute to Ulysses S. Grant, the museum is a sure bet for anyone who is interested in United States History! There is an original painting showing Robert E. Lee’s surrender to Grant, Civil War memorabilia and an actual lead mine inside the brick house. As a bonus, the Galena and U.S. Grant Museum has many special exhibits and new exhibits throughout the year, so be sure to see what’s new before you go!

Mangelsen Images of Nature Gallery

The Old Blacksmith Shop

You can’t visit Galena without a visit to The Old Blacksmith Shop! A historical, working blacksmith shop, you can not only see exactly how blacksmiths have operated in history, but also bring home a beautiful forged piece of your very own from the gift shop. We absolutely love the custom forged fireplace tools! The Old Blacksmith Shop is only open from May to October, Fridays to Mondays, so mark your calendar!
