Banana Nut Bread

Every few weeks someone asks me for my Banana Bread recipe and, even though it has been posted here before, here it is again.  This recipe is from my Grandma Rose to whom I owe my love of cooking.  I have such heartwarming memories of sitting in her kitchen as a child, listening to her sing along to the transistor radio as she created French Toast, Chicken Soup or Spaghetti and Meatballs.  She made Banana Nut Bread for us on special occasions.  Now I make it for my guests here.

 

Grandma Rose’s Banana Nut Bread

Mix

½ Cup Butter

1 Cup Sugar

2 Eggs

½ Cup Buttermilk

1Teaspoon Vanilla

 

 

Sift together and ad:

1 ½ Cups of Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

½ Teaspoon Salt

 

Add

1 Cup Chopped (Course) Walnuts

1 Cup of Mashed Bananas (2 -3 very ripe)

 

Don’t over mix.

 

Bake 350 degrees for 1hour and 5 minutes in a greased

and floured bread pan.
